Ontario’s Mayor and City Council would like to invite members of the community to attend this year’s National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. The festivities will begin with the “Party in the Park” at 5 PM at the Dorothy A. Quesada Community Center located at 1010 S. Bon View Avenue in Ontario.

Officers from the Ontario Police Department’s DUI Enforcement Team will be deploying this weekend to stop and arrest alcohol and drug-impaired drivers in the department’s ongoing traffic safety campaign. DUI Saturation Patrols will deploy on Saturday, July 23, 2016 between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. in areas with high frequencies of DUI collisions and / or arrest. 

The Ontario Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, July 22, 2016, at an undisclosed location within the city between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The deterrent effect of DUI checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes. Research shows that crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced by up to 20 percent when well-publicized DUI checkpoints and proactive DUI patrols are conducted routinely.

On July 22, 2016, Ontario’s Mayor and City Council celebrated the groundbreaking of the former Sunkist Citrus Packing Plant site. The historic industrial site will be developed by Commercial Real Estate Developer, Majestic Realty Company.

On July 21, 2016, at 9:33pm, Ontario Police received a call of shooting that occurred on the grounds of Chaffey High School near 4th Street. Officers arrived and found a 16-year-old male with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

Ontario Town Square, operated by the Ontario Convention Center, has become the community hub for entertainment with a great line-up for The Summer Series of 2016.  Every Wednesday and Friday from May 4 thru August 12 the community is invited to attend events at Ontario Town Square.  The Summer Concerts in the Park on Wednesdays and the Movies in the Park on Fridays organized by the City of Ontario Recreation & Community Services provides free entertainment for the entire family.  Families bring their lawn chairs or blankets to the grass area at Ontario… Read More
