Police received information late Wednesday night regarding the battering of a duck by a young man. The abuse, which depicted the suspect using a golf club to strike a duck at the Whispering Lakes Golf Course in the City of Ontario, was captured on video and shared via social media.
Ontario Police immediately launched an investigation into the incident, which lead them to identify a 16-year-old male, believed to be responsible for the abuse of the duck. The remains of the duck were found.
The suspect was located at his home, where he was taken into custody without incident.
The Arrestee is a 16-year-old juvenile resident of Ontario. Due to his juvenile status, his name and additional information will not be released.
The suspect was issued a citation for 597PC, Felony Animal Abuse. He has been released to his parents.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
